Boston

We spent 1 day in Boston which meant we had to make choices.  Our plan was to ride the hop on hop off bus, get our bearings and then return to the places we wanted to learn more about.  When we got off the subway we talked with a costumed woman outside the visitors center and decided to take her 90 minute walking tour along the Freedom Trail.  We were pleased we did.  She is a middle school history teacher in Boston and was a wealth of knowledge.  She had a way of linking many events and facts together to help us better understand what lead up to the Declaration of Independence.  Not taxation so much as England taking away their ability to govern themselves. Political freedom.

After the tour it was lunchtime.  We decided to have lunch and decide what to do with the rest of the day.  Was good to sit, drink a cold beverage and some nourishment.

The tour package we decided on included a harbor tour.  That was a disappointment after such a wonderful morning.

The boat tour was followed by the bus tour.  We covered a lot of the city with a knowledgeable bus driver.  Many beautiful old buildings.  Trinity Church.

Lots of "brown stones", houses/apartments that were built with brown stone.  A beautiful neighborhood

By the end of the day we were tired and thirsty.  Guess what was across the street for the subway station?  Not very Bostonian but just what we needed.
