Soldatna to Homer

We had beautiful scenery today as we drove the 80 miles from Soldotna to Homer.  We stopped at several turnouts to enjoy the beautiful mountains.  Mt Redoubt in the Chigmit mountains.
Mt Iliamna from the same vantage point as the above photo.
Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord Russian Orthodox Church in Ninilchik.
We are excited to get to Homer.  It is not only beautiful here but also our chance to walk on the beach, the guys are going fishing. I am counting the halibut in my freezer before the fish are caught.
This is how we travel.  Imels motorhome and Wagenblasts travel trailer.
At last, Gary has been wanting clam chowder.  It was really good and I liked the fish shaped bowl.
Garnet and I have visited a quilt shop in almost every town we have been in.  Today we went to the quilt shop in Ulmers drug and hardware.  Great shop and we found fabric we have been looking for..
Fireweed is everywhere but we had never seen a field as big and beautiful as this.
After dinner we went for a walk on the beach.  Homer spit in the distance with mountains all around. This place is heaven on earth.
